Olbaldy, you're not just an artist, you're a poet as well.

I can't take credit for that particular photo. Her Dad took it. (I do have his permission to post it). It is one of my favorites. She was about four years old in the picture.
Alan-She's going to love reading what you wrote. I agree with you, of course.
I also thought that something about the photo invited an impressionist interpretation.
Amica-the catchlights you added are perfect. I thought they were needed too but wasn't sure how to add them.
DKCoats and Palms- I wouldn't know that yours were done with a computer if I saw them printed. Palms, I really like your edge look. Is there a tutorial out there for that? DKCoats, I had to google GMX. If it does for all what you did with this I may have to start saving my pennies.
Swampy-I'm still learning and thanks for the excellent tutorials you have on your site. I had a lot of technical difficulties, but can finally see and hear them.
Secret agent-I liked yours very much.
Lyle-thanks so much for your kind comments.

I'm going to show these to the young lady in question today. It'll be interesting to see what the "model" thinks.

Re: Umbrella girl

Lyle, I like that one better. Try as I might, I just prefer the more reaistic renderings to the abstract. It's probably a right-brain, left-brain thing. But your other pictures left Beanie in a fit of giggles.

Re: Umbrella girl

To everyone-
Beanie was quite flattered by all your artwork. She told me she couldn't pick a favorite. She liked them all. Thanks a bunch for making her day.

Now a question-I'd like to figure out how to take a photo and wind up with an illustration similar to those done by Maud Humphrey Bogart at the turn of the last century. Does anyone have any idea, or has anyone ever found a tutorial for something similar?
Shari

I started out trying to take up the challenge of Maud Humphrey.. then things evolved and Maud got left behind somewhere... after I finished the picture a light went off inside my head and I just had to do another... you will see why!
