I LOVE IT!! It's about time Morton's updated their logo. The rainbow is a nice touch too. Your background really suggests a rainy day too. Mind if I ask how you did it?

Re: Umbrella girl

Gilbert, Your painting is really lovely. I am so envious of your talent. I wish I could come up with a result even half as good as that.

Craig, Thanks for compliment. The model is a delightful young lady.

Vidyakk9, I would have never thought of embossing the umbrella.

Yes, it's near. I have a collection of Victorian ephemera (thanks to a great great grandmother who never threw anything away) and Maud's children decorated a lot of calendars and trade cards in the late 1800's. Her watercolors are charming.
That's pretty much the look I'm after. Any pointers?

Shari a bit of waffle I am afraid Firstly i had never heard of Maude so had to google (lovely work) So i sort of broke down the look
The backgrounds seemed to be similar so i used the gradient tool to get the background of something of the same color
On the children illustrations that i have seen there seemed to be some "greenery or flora" so found some brushes
Then i had just happened to of seen this thread at dpr and thought that it gave the "look" so smudging came to mind ( i think with the colourization way a closer look could of been achieved not sure if it would work making a colour image b&W then colourizing ?)
Any way to help with the colouring on this image i duplicated the background,& used. image >apply image, making the blending screen
Then a quick smudge,
masked the background
used the leaves brush
and lastly added film grain

sorry to be long winded about the answer

I thank you for the challenge i really enjoyed it and i think it worth having another try with a different image, in fact i think it could make a new forum challenge thingy to try and replicate different artists any one else think so ?

Maud's main claim to fame seems to have been giving birth to Humphrey Bogart, but I really like her prints.

You aren't being longwinded, you are being very helpful.

I think trying to replicate different artists would be fun. It's been a long time since I studied them and I, for one, could use the incentive.

Just a color from the raincoat with a B/W Diamond Gradient applied in a mask and an action... either "Blizzard" or "light Rain" from the 'Image Effects' action set.

<Edit>
Forgot to add the Rainbow was made on a blank layer with an action By: Bill M.. and can be found here
