I like it Palms. Been playing with engravings too, but this one's extremely good. I like to here your secrets too.

Thank you Peter and Lyle i would like to say it is hard to do but it is a easy one really

desturated the original

duplicated image, and set blendmode to overlay, then used high pass at around the 6.5 mark merged down

Repeated this tweeking the high pass a bit to get what i liked

used levels to lighten it a bit

added a texture layer (this one was grey as i thought it would suit better) set to multiply then used the eraser at about 15 to remove the texture from the face going over the highlights a couple of times

flattened and then a bit of dodge and burn on the eyes

hope that is of some use to you and understandable

Thanks for the explanation Palms.. I have been trying to get rid of the "Plastic Wrap" look and you may have helped in my quest..
