Old Chap

Found this at SXC and thought it may be suitable for here..
Well I really know it's suitable, so here it is.
I'll stop rambling now and let you get on with it if you want.

Enjoy

Nice find and wonderful interpretations. I am too old for MTV so please don't expect these short replies :-) I thought I might try a smudge...

Re: Old Chap

Amica999 - your attemt is really nice! Especially because you neutralize ambient light. try using brush in color mode neutralize it even more. use eye dropper to sample warm color, than just paint over cool areas.

I think you answered your own question, it's ambient light that was in the picture already. I didn't mind the look of it so left it there.

Dk very sharp especially around the edges where you have masked the BG.

OB you been playing with Plastic wrap again???

Amica that's impressive.

Re: Old Chap

Thank you Stopa, as you may realize this is the photo based art section and I don't really aim at realism. I actually like the ambient lights as it adds an interesting touch to the pic. Nevertheless thank you for your tipps of toning them down, if I wanted to.

Peter, thank you very much. I actually like the idea to impress YOU this time, instead always the other way around :-)

Hmmm, Peter, it does sorta look like plastic wrap doesn't it! Gonna have to work on that and make some refinements...

Geenee

Because day without photoshop is a wasted day, and today I take care for my baby, I get bored to stiff as she sleep - my attempt.

I was inspired by Amica999.

Re: Old Chap

Wow; cool stuff. Couldn't come up with anything unique, so I'm playing copycat too and did a firebrush oil; sort of a Jordan Dill type (Fred Miranda' site artist that paints with fire).

Excellent painting!

You should take care of your baby more often. Then we would have more of these nice images from you.

Re: Old Chap

Thank you Peter and Lyle i would like to say it is hard to do but it is a easy one really

desturated the original

duplicated image, and set blendmode to overlay, then used high pass at around the 6.5 mark merged down

Repeated this tweeking the high pass a bit to get what i liked

used levels to lighten it a bit

added a texture layer (this one was grey as i thought it would suit better) set to multiply then used the eraser at about 15 to remove the texture from the face going over the highlights a couple of times

flattened and then a bit of dodge and burn on the eyes

hope that is of some use to you and understandable

Palms

I really like that. Is he God or maybe he's an astronaut in the Space Station? Maybe he's just a regular person concerned about our planet earth. What do the rest of you see? I like pics that make you think there's some kind of story behind them. Cool.
