Hello, Palms. I haven't been in the forums for quite a while so I thought I'd have a look to see what has been happening. What a beautiful flower and interpretation. I love your simplicity. I am going to give this one a try when things die down around here. Thanks for the inspiration.

Palms, Thanks for the nice words!
I extracted the flower and changed the background, I painted Iris in Painter with Acrylics>Captured Bristle, Equalize, without clone color paint in different colors with low opacity, in PS I used USM, S/H and H/S...

Re: Iris

I spent a lot of time on this one. I usually smudge on a copy of the photograph but this time I did it completely on a separate layer. The background was done using the colors of the iris. The wood frame is a new one for me. I found the tutorial for it http://psdtuts.com/articles/inspirat...ion-tutorials/

Re: Iris

Gerry very nice work
smudging on a separate layer is more time consuming ( it slows the puter down some ) but worth it, or sometimes do it just for intricate bits like ,eyes, hair etc plus you get to see just where you have missed

thanks for the frame link will have a look at that soon

Re: Iris

To Palms; a little forgiveness in advance in that I used your rendering to start the ball rolling (I hate extractions and your's was fantastically already there). I then convolved it into an ice sculpture since it definitely is my current binge. lol

Re: Iris

I used lightness selections and fill them with textures. I sort of outlined it here, but still takes more involvement then I would like (you know how I like filters). Not really hard to do, but the attack itself takes some thought making it more time consuming then I would like (this one only took around 20 minutes; Palms extraction saved me a lot of time). Glad you like the result.

Re: Iris

ok, lyle, go you got me wondering what filter forge offered in the way of ice. this first one is sort of ice, if you think of the iris being buried under some ice. otherwise, it looks more like a reflection. take your pick

and the rest of these were just some i did while wandering through other filters of FF.

Re: Iris

Cool results Craig; your second comes close to getting Ice. 2 minutes of filter work is much better then 30 minutes of what I have to do. lol

Well, I am getting better at it (meaning faster) at it.
