Little old lady, time for tea
Here's a kiss, or two or three,
You're just like that little old lady,
I hold dear to me.......

Re: Creative Interpretations - Little Old Lady

I got too much texture in this but I like the colors. Can't get rid of the texture without starting over and I don't think I could get the colors again. So I guess I'll go ahead and post this.
I 'm really struck by the feel of this picture, but unlike Steve, I'm not so sure the mood it sets is "wonderful." The lady seems to be on a one-way journey.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Little Old Lady

You're right Shari. I almost titled this "Lonely Old Lady".

BTW... I almost always add texture to a 50% gray layer set to Overlay. That way I can always to back and change it or turn it off completely.

Perhaps "wonderful" was a bad choice to describe the mood here.

But to me a storm at sea can create as great a mood as a bright sunny day on the beach, if the images are done well. In this case I agree that the mood is sombre, but the image conveys it well.

Fer Steve (not quite as romantic as your verse):

"Hey Lookie yonder What that I see
Hey That old dog is comin' after me
I thought ya told her I was out of town
I wonder how she know'd I was hangin' around..."

I think this image is quite compelling for all sorts of reasons hence why i have tried something else (impressionist)

Re: Creative Interpretations - Little Old Lady

Swampy,
I pondered on this photo for ideas of a rework...........
Let me say this. I have always critqued others photographers and students with the "Damn I wish I had shot that", rule. The tonality, muted and moody are lovely and I dare not touch it and it surely should be a portfolio piece.
Damn I wish I had shot that!

Sweetlight, I can't take credit. I think I found it on Wikimedia. But it drew my attention the moment I saw it too.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Little Old Lady

Hi Swampy

I see in your tutorials you also use a mac (Great tutorials, thanks). Do you know if we are able to use those AHB from Trimoons downloads? They are tpl files, but don't seem to work on my mac computer? They seem to be good AHB.
Thanks

Re: Creative Interpretations - Little Old Lady

Hi Swampy
Yeah they are .tpl files, I've been reading through some of the Photo art forums and they seem to be popular with palms and a few others, just thought you may use them to with your mac?

Re: Creative Interpretations - Little Old Lady

Are you loading them correctly?

A .tpl file is not loaded using the brush palette "Load" option.

Put the .tpl file in your Photoshop/Preset/Tools folder Then.....

To load .tpl (Tool Presets) you must first, select the AHB tool, then drop down the Preset tool menu and select the flyout arrow and use the load function there.

Amazing how many interpretations there can be on the same photo. All the renditions are great. Looked at your photobucket pictures. Your work is wonderful an a good range of subjects.
