Re: Rose for valentines day

The rose is so pretty I couldn't resist another try. This one is an AHB on one layer. I created layer below the rose, made a selection of the rose and filled it with pink and gave it a radial blur. Finally, I created a layer below that and used a radial gradient with pink and purple.

Hi all, nice work.

Hey Palms, when I click on your link for your AH work it goes back to the home page, I really like your style of painting. How can I get to your AH link so that I can start learning?

Re: Rose for valentines day

Thank you for the kind words, Palms. I really like flowers and the rose is my favorite. When I was younger, my wife asked if I would buy her a rose bush for our front yard. I bought 2 dozen rose bushes, each a different color. We had the prettiest front yard in the neighborhood.

Alas, we moved from that neighborhood almost 30 years ago and I never got around to putting a rose garden in our yard. Now I only have 5, and with my back problems, I can't even go out and work on them. At least I can look at them, though.

Since my wife and I have been retired (5 years now), we've been doing a lot of traveling and I don't have as much time as I would like to take care of a garden now. Maybe in the future when we have got the wanderlust out of our system I will consider a potted rose collection or even a raised rose garden. With either of those I should be able to do some maintenance with little effort. In the meantime I will continue to admire them and work on pictures, etc.
