Re: Creative Interpretations - Chinese Tea Room

Saw a lot of this kind of out-of-the-way little restaurant while living in Japan. I can still taste the great food. I don't think there is a real sushi chef in this country anymore. I miss the ambiance as well as the authentic food.

Re: Creative Interpretations - Chinese Tea Room

I'm with you, Steve. I loved the little hole in the wall places when I traveled in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Great food, wonderful service. In Hong Kong (where most natives spoke some English back in the 70's) we found a delightful place down some crummy alley that was the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. We ate there several times and got to know the owner and his wife a little bit. One night we spent about two hours just chatting with them and meeting their children. We exchanged cards and when their oldest son studied at Duke, he came to vist and spent a week as an unofficial "exchange" student. My son was just a little younger (in high school with a car) so he played the tour guide and host. They still email from time to time. The son graduated and is a neurosurgeon in North Carolina and has brought his whole family to America.

This photo just reminded me so much of the Choo's restaurant.

Nice pic Swampy. Spent a little time in back alley restaurants in Japan, Korea and Thailand myself. Sometimes I wasn't sure just what I was eating, but it was all good.

Here's my rendition.
