Amica999, re: link to Peter S. tutorial -- thanks again for the time you've spent trying to educate me; I appreciate it. I had viewed that thread a few days ago, but didn't study the details. I'll have to go back and reread it, then try it out.

It's like the old cliche........"How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" Answer: "Practice, practice, practice."

As for me it's trying new combinations of things, and keeping notes on what I come up with. Even if you don't get what you started out for, you may discover something new along the way.

One big least for that a technique will look absolutely great on one image, and absolutely like garbage on another. By the same token, there are images I have tried to work with that nothing will make them look good as digital art, no matter what I do.
