Sorry, forget to mention that the second version of this image was also done using SnapArt, Oil Painting selected.

I haven't tried snap art Gunner but you get some good results from it

used a couple passes of RedfieldXX (freeware found HERE, among other goodies) on adjusted Luminosity layers plus a few other things (masks, color adjustments, etc..)

Didn't know what I wanted to do with this one Gunner, so I through some G'MIC, vector simplication blends and Contrast mask blends at it and attached is the result.

Not sure if G'MIC for GIMP was compiled for the MAC version of GIMP. The vector simplication software packages are pretty much PC though.
