I'm thinking of buying corel painter to improve my photo based art. If you have got painter, what do you think of it? Eg,.... is it easy to use? ....are you happy with the results? Or is there any other suggestions on how to create good digital paintings via plug ins or other programmes/methods? I watched a video on corel painters AUTO PAINTING, and it seemed to give good results. Thank you

Re: Who uses COREL PAINTER??? If your thinking of using auto painting you might want to try Painter Essentials 4 first. It comes with video tutorials (very helpful). I think the full blown version is powerful but is more suitable for people who are likely to be painters. Painter essentials 4 has auto painting and would be a good staring point. You can then decide if you want more.

Re: Who uses COREL PAINTER??? Thanks for your advice Ted. I'm not a painter, but am looking for a good software or plug ins that have a good auto feature which I can then enhance even more in photoshop.

Re: Who uses COREL PAINTER??? Look at "Deep Paint" before you spend money on a program. "Art Master Pro" has the auto features you want.

Re: Who uses COREL PAINTER??? Painter has the "Auto Paint" feature in it also. However it is a much higher end version. Also you can try the trial/demo version first to just check it out-or both of them for that matter.

Re: Who uses COREL PAINTER??? I updated the info on my Painter page the other day. Version 11 was recently released. For Windows there is PD Pro (low-end versions also available) and GMX PhotoPainter. If you're on a Mac check out Studio Artist (new version coming soon), which has a wild auto-paint engine. As for plug-ins, Alien Skin offers SnapArt, which I feel is among the better of the artsy plug-ins.

Re: Who uses COREL PAINTER??? You might want to learn more in Photoshop you may be surprised as to what you can do. You may have to put forth a little effort. Color Efex Pro has good filters. Karen PS. I am taking Beginning Painter 11 online at www.digitalartacademy.com to learn more than just pressing a botton. Registration for this session just closed.
