Smile Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

I'm wanting to purchase some software or plug ins that give great results in Auto painting...i'm not the best with brushes etc (am still learning) so am wanting something that does the bulk of the work, and then I can adjust it more in photoshop with layers, masking etc.

Do you have any particular favourites for this?

Thanks

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

What kind of images: Scenery? People? Pets? Autos? or what?

For your own enjoyment or do you intend/hope to sell your creations?

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

Preferably for People and pets and maybe a little bit of scenery.

I'm doing it for enjoyment at the moment, but could maybe sell them later if they good enough?

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

Snap Art is also one of my favorite, but there is also Corel Painter which has the regular version and a Painter Essentials 4 (Windows & Macintosh) - with a Free Trial at this URL;
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli...2#tabview=tab6

Then there is Topaz Labs Simplify which is stunning I think. Take a look at this URL:

http://www.topazlabs.com/simplify/

Sanp art may also have one

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

Full disclosure that I bought this gem, but, imo, this is probably one of the best if not the best autopainter that I've ever seen and, as several of you all already know, I've been on a quest for this type of program/filter for more then several years now. It's called Dynamic Auto-Painter and it is still relatively new, but very cool.

Yes I've had a go with the Dynamic Auto-painter, its good how we can sit back and watch it paint and learn by watching the process

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

See the list of options under "Natural media/paint effects" here.

I wouldn't include LucisArt in this list; it mainly reveals or smushes detail in an artsy way but doesn't emulate traditional art media.

There's a free starter edition of ArtRage you should try.

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

Artrage, though fantastic, is not an Autopainter Pix. Occasionally take this gem for a ride to add nuiances though.

Yeah Artrage seems to be good, not sure how long it takes to learn properly?

Some of them are simple to use and some a bit more complex

Hey Steve Conway

The GMX photo painter, is that a plug in or standalone programme or both?
I'm currently on my mac, but get my pc next week.
Thanks

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

I own Dynamic Auto Painter and find it very good but I think I prefer the two others that I am evaluating right now, they are Simplify and Essential 4. And of those two I think Essentials 4 has the edge because of the ability to mix and match the different effects and also the many different ways of use (plus it has a great video tutorial included).

Attached are the original photo (taken by my granddaughter) and the use of each of the programs on it (L to R - Original - Essentials 4 - Simplify)

btw I bypassed the other software mentioned simply because they are too expensive for me to buy.

Re: Best Software or Plug in for AUTO PAINTING

It has loads of options ... I think the best way to see how you like it is to download the free trial version. It is fully functional and lasts for 60 days, plenty of time to play with it and see if you like it or no. That's what I have done and am almost sure I am going to be buying it at the end.

Here's the link.
Painter 4 Essentials

Lots of info on the page to look through before you download too.
