Newbie Parisian Street Scene

Hey Gang, Here is one for you creative bunch. I did a couple but only could bear to put one up after the original. One thing I have learned is that a lousy photograph can sometime be saved by what we do here. Don't you agree?

First I tweaked the high heavens out of the basic image. then I used topaz Simplify, next went to Nik ColorEfex 3.0 and added some fog effect.

Yes, this is all I have to do on a Friday night. Being 73 has the advantage of having done all that I cared to do. And boy, did I do it, time to rest now.

Gunner, I have 2 video tutorials on the PST. 101 is basic set up and use, 102 goes into a little more depth with possibilities. See the tutorial link in my sig.

Re: Parisian Street Scene

Paris is always a great subject for photography or paintings.

Made two attempts, but the first one required too much size reduction and did not come out well. Here is my second attempt.

Re: Parisian Street Scene

Just goes to how one that folks that are good with the applications that we use and that have a good "eye" can really do wonders with a POOR photo. Poor from a purist photographer point of view that is. The basic bones are there and that's all you folks need as I see it, am I wrong?

Re: Parisian Street Scene

Gunner, don't sell yourself short. It's a nice shot.

I tweaked it in CS4 with Topaz Adjust/Simplify, used DAPainter/Benson and blended most of the result with the original back in PS, then added some texture.

dtn is Day to Night Gunner. Not that good at it, but I do like playing with this style once in a while since you can really get surreal like renders from it. I when the illustration route this time with mine though.

Re: Parisian Street Scene

Couple of different renderings..one is just a little more painterly than the other. I tried to perserve what was in the original, but bring out color and detail.

Thanks Sylvia, for the encouragement.

BTW I bought your book this week and I am working my way through a number of the tutorials. A Great resources.... Thanks for putting all your hard work into the book and sharing what you have learned over the years.

Hope to have more to show soon, as I get up to speed with a number of your AHB techniques... ;-).

Thank you very much for the very kind words, Peter
Do try the AHB, it's a great way to give a very painted look to an image. Make sure you resize your picture first though, as the results really depend on the size of the image.
