Nice oil effect Palms. It gave me the idea for an action I haven't used for awhile, a Paint With Texture effect from Mike Finn.

and the action works well, will have to have another look at them ( they are great actions )

glad you liked it Sponge
i experimented on this one a bit
made a sketch layer
then used the ahb (trimoons spatter brush (tpl))
at a small size and using small strokes painted in between the lines
and then slightly embossed the image and sharpened
