Been hunting lately...

and have some pictures to share with you if you like. Unfortunately they are all outdoors as they won't let you take pics inside of the castle.

Re: Been hunting lately...

Thank you, Skip and Grant.
@ Skip, I really love what you did, both have their own charme, I tend to like the lighter one a little more...
@ Grant, lovely painterly feel, great how you tickled the colors.

Re: Been hunting lately...

Trying to do some experimenting with HpDR idea again without doing the ACE (in fact, sort of doing the opposite) with a vector simplication blend for this watercolor (added dup burn with Opacity adjustment at the end). Of course add the paper texture at the end.

Lyle, this one looks dreamy and surreal, very different

Here are two in the same style: Watercolor with outline. The fountain was done with Topaz and the pond was done with Filter Forge

Re: Been hunting lately...

I agree with you Sylvia. I just added both packages to my arsenal and am experimenting. Each on has its strengths and weaknesses. I'll just have to keep playing around to get used to both of them.

Re: Been hunting lately...

Gerry, I tend to agree with Sylvia, the first has a more "artsy" feel to it.
Sylvia, that looks so clean, lovely

Re: Been hunting lately...

Sponge, I'm using Topaz Simplify v2.0 for the Mac.

Amica, I agree with both you and Sylvia. I thought was to try both and see what they would do. I'm still learning about both packages. Filter Forge does have some interesting possibilities but I won't use that combination again.

Amica, thank you.
Love your picture, particularly fine grain texture.
What is DAP?

Re: Been hunting lately...

Nice work, Pavel and Amica. Too bad there isn't a version of DAP for the Mac.

Here is an AHB version to make up for my earlier Filter Forge attempt.

Re: Been hunting lately...

Thank you, Gerry, but there is no reason to make up for something It was never said that your second version was bad or anything, just having them side by side made the first more appealing Nice work with the AHB, with all the new toys around, I have kind of abandoned it a little - undeservedly - as you proved!

Re: Been hunting lately...

I said "make up" with tongue in cheek. I appreciate you kind words. Each version stands on its own. When I finished them, I thought the second was not as good as the first but I wanted to get another opinion. That's why I posted them. Filter Forge is a fine program. However, the technique I used is not suited for this type of picture. I wanted to do another version to satisfy my own artistic tastes.

All of you who post on this web site encourage me to experiment and to do as good as I can with each entry I post. I want you to know that all your comments are greatly appreciated.
