Family photo to Artify

I tried to paint the family using Painter essentials 3, but it didn't turn out as good as I hoped.

I used the camel oil cloner brush for this one, trying to get an oil type effect.

Re: Family photo to Artify

Macca I used a bunch of different tools and tried to make it look like brush strokes. I use the smudge tool for this.
What do you think?
By the way, I really like what the others have done with it too.

Try at a saturated watercolor.

Re: Family photo to Artify

I used RetineX in GIMP using the behind option, did a bit of color balance and wavelet sharpen too. It brightened the foreground like a fill in flash. As you can see, there are some artifacts in the clothing, but you can fade the filter to minimize them. The RetineX filter tends to flatten and sharpen the image giving it a cartoonish look, so fade is your friend.

Glad to see another fellow GIMPer here Alfredo. Welcome. I like Retinex too by the way.

Re: Family photo to Artify

Nice work everyone, I found it quite a challenging one to create into a nice painterly effect

Re: Family photo to Artify

The first is my clean-up. The second is artified and the third is my painterly attempt.
