Oleander Flowers

Was sitting on the porch of my new house in Florida early yesterday and took a photo of my neighbors Oleander. Liked the colors, so I ran it through a WaterColor action I did awhile back that uses BuzzPro and Virtual Painter.

Hope you all have fun with it too.

Re: Oelander Flowers

Very poisonous to if you did not know. So great that once you pass the "welcome to Florida" sign you are greeted by medians literally lined for miles with them. They got sued one time because some kid stuck some in her mouth and was very ill. Just more of Chris' useless trivia

Re: Oelander Flowers

Lots of cool renditions and I do appreciate the comments MA. Thought I would add a seamless texture (took out my ancient GIMP 1.2.4 since I've rediscovered an old plugin that only works with this version of GIMP). Used that result and created the glossy globe.

Re: Oelander Flowers

Neat idea Lyle; I made a tile out of my first version and put it on this vase.

Old windows program, Micrografx Simply 3D 3.0, it runs pretty well on Windows XP.

Messing around with texture. Attempting 'hi key'.

My free texture set on Flickr.

Great job all! I never ceased to be amazed at the imagination and creative ability of all who participate on this forum. Maybe it's time for this old dog to learn some new tricks. :-)

Re: Oelander Flowers

Thanks Sweetlight, I am aware of how poisonous they are. Grew up in south Florida and also lived in Arizona for some time where they are in abundance also. MA, never tried dandelion buds, but I have eaten a rose from time to time when I wasn't in total control of my actions, but let's not go there. :-)

Re: Oelander Flowers

Mentioned it, so I might as well play with it too. Used a Lathe profile for the Pawn pattern and then ported the result into GIMP for some additional tlc.

Re: Oelander Flowers

Lovely shot, skip. And some very creative minds around here. Mine is a little more conservative, but hope you like it anyway

Re: Oleander Flowers

Grant, very nice watercolor effect. Was there a specific program or action you used to get this result? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Skip. I used 3 plugins, Buzz Pro, Paint Engine and Impressionist.I used water colour and oil paint combined in Buzz Pro, Watercolour2 in PE and Fine Brush Hairs in Impressionist.Adjusting opacity and layer masks.

Re: Oleander Flowers

Bambo Fun Medium came today. Medium proving to be a bit too big for my wrist-only style. Good a place as any to practice getting used to it.

Some over-painting, Solidify to file some holes, and Watercolour in there with a touch of more over-painting.
