Re: Lilies - for you to play with

Created a seamless texture and then used Polar Coordinates for the globe. So you got it partly right. lol

A floating orb version this time. Used Flaming Pear's Ornament filter before the Polar Coordinates step this time. Also used Redfield's free Water Ripples filter for the water effect.

Re: Lilies - for you to play with

Pretty flowers, Amica. What Panasonic camera do you have?

Played with this in Paintshop Pro v9. Combined layers of Line art with brushstrokes, added addition layers of textures and then messed around with blend modes, finally cropped to square.

With the necessary compression to post here, you lose some of the texture and pick up some jpeg artifacts, but it still gives the general idea.

Thanks for letting me play.

Re: Lilies - for you to play with

Nice play, Grant, Looks good lighter too

Gene, I have a Lumix FZ28. I shot those without flash so some noise was already introduced. Nice crop and I can imagine the brush strokes. If you want to post larger versions (sometimes necessary) you can use Photobucket etc. and post a link here besides the thumbnail. Further you can support this site as patron and the 100k limit will double.

Thank you all for playing

Re: Lilies - for you to play with

No need to be sorry, Palms, I do like the diversity with which people approach the images.
Can't decide if I like No 2 or No. 3 better, your AHB version looks a little very dark on my screen that is....

@ Gene, I fell in love right away with this little camera. I have a Casio, which is a real small pocket cam - and it made some nice shots - if not - the error has to be searched behind the cam. But I really missed some wide angle, some real zoom AND most of all shooting in RAW - and I didn't want to have a truck for the equipment - because I could predict that I wouldn't take the cam with me all that often if a crew was needed. So I guess this is the best pick for me

Re: Lilies - for you to play with

Wow, yall sure love your flowers huh? Look at all the nice work.
This my friends is THE flower from hell. Since downloading the starter image it has been a comedy of errors. Yesterday I have brought my MacBook home and was working the image in there. Little did I know that I had disabled auto save so this of course is not an issue right? Unless you say ummmm........your house gets hit by lightning!!! And had I plugged the lap top into my power supply, well hell no. So what I considered a good amount of time relaxing and working the image, right down the drain. I had built this perfect little drip that was flowing so, so sweetly from the dangling petal on the right. I mean, pixel by pixel construction. GONE!
So today working on my desktop I tried and tried to duplicate said drip but no drip will ever be as perfect as that drip! So, what you have now is a few hours of painstaking work minus one beautiful drip of paint.........
Anyways, it happens.

Re: Lilies - for you to play with

Grant, lovely version.
Chris, sorry to hear that you've lost your work - save often, save early - would have loved to see your previous version, more so because even your "substitute" looks brilliant
MA, interesting

Thank you all for playing

Re: Lilies - for you to play with

Thanks Amica,
I don't get frustrated easy or often but I was just about ready to throw both systeme out the window. lol.
On the original I have created a nice black and white the dropped it on top of the color image. I then used a gradiient mask to run left to right. I tweaked it just right so it looked kind of like the coler was running out of the flower from left to right and that perfect littlle drip hund from the nice spout of a flower petal on the right.
Yes, I broke on of my cardinal rules about saving and saving. It was much like the butterfly effect as a very precise number of events had to happen perfectly, each one setting the next in motion like dominoes. No worries, I have my moments.

Hi there...yes, I knew you would smell out (no pun intended, as they say) these flowers sooner or later.

I am not much for flower pics as Palms will tell you, but once in a while I give them a whirl.

I had another go at the flowers. What I like most about this image is the rich green leaves, so gave green control of the picture.
