Hello

Hello - I just found this forum yesterday doing a Google search for a tutorial of some kind for doing kaleidoscope art. I fussed & played with the concept most of the day yesterday, coming up with some halfway decent samples done manually, but Jeanie's "actions" are brilliant! I'm in danger of becoming totally addicted! Thanks Jeanie .... I think ....

Kiska, how wonderful. This one looks like a needlepoint cushion. Absolutely beautiful.

Welcome BluebirdNut. Please share some of your kaleidoscope addiction with the rest of us.

I am so glad that I revived this thread. Everyone has posted such lovely creations and I love how creative you guys are getting!

CJ - love the lion one and the pixel ones are very arty! You are obviously having fun and have become quite the Kaleidoscope Artist! I really like the one where you experiment with the distort, polar coordinates and wave filters. You could print out quite the note card collection now!

Actually we could print out everyone’s images and have quite the variety of kaleidoscope note cards--perhaps we should start RetouchPro Greeting Cards!

Kudos to everyone and I hope to see more!!

TPaul -- Jeannie created a software CD based on a refined copy of the action, and has added it to her retouching/restoration business. One target audience is scrapbookers.

Wow, it's great to see everyone having fun with kaleidoscopes again!

Janet, I absolutely love your off-centered one! And the pinwheel effect (i.e., the one without mirroring the wedges) is always fun too.

jaykita, I'm glad you're having fun with the action. Your kaleidoscope with the blue sky, flowers and butterfly is beautiful. And the one with the face is very intriguing!

kiska, I love the variety of different images you've played with. What fun!

CJ, the tiger and giraffe kaleidoscopes are amazing! And your "experiments" are great!! I'll have to play more with "post-processing".

BlueBirdNut, do we get to see any of your kaleidoscopes?? Don't be shy!

T Paul, thanks for reviving this thread. I'm happy to report that I have not stopped making kaleidoscopes since this thread started! I was so inspired, that I started making kaleidoscopes with different shapes and my sister (a scrapbooker) convinced me to offer a service making kaleidoscopes for scrapbookers. (Previously, the only method was to make multiple prints of photos, then use a template to precisely cut them out and glue them onto cardstock in a kaleidoscope shape.) I had so many people ask me if we had a special software, that we decided to do just that!

I've attached some of my favorite kaleidoscopes from the past couple of years. There's a couple others I wanted to share, but I can't find them at the moment.

Thanks CJ for letting me know this thread was alive again!

Jeanie

I bow to the masters. , Jeanie, CJ, and Jaykita. These are amazing. My sister-in-law will be honored if I gift her with a kaleidoscope for her scrapbooking. For me, I'll probably use them on greeting cards. What a great thread.

Janet

Jeanie - Glad to hear from you and that you have made good use of your Kaleidoscope action. I bet it is very popular amongst scrapbookers! I love your entries, but the last photo is my favorite. The colors and intricate patterns are very pleasing to the eye. Beautiful work!

Jaykita – another great entry!
