creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

feel free to go wild folks, show me what you can do.

I had to hide the cheese from DH so it wouldn't be eaten before I got the chance to take a picture of it.

Re: creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

Lyle - that's really neat how you gcan see texture on the black
Pavel - that's okay, I love blue cheese
Grant - that really turned out well, especially on the grapes and the leaves
John - Isn't it neat how well PE makes brush strokes?
amica - Wow! Marvelous pallet brush effect, I really like how the yellow bleeds into the black
jordan - thanks for linking to the larger one. You really achieved a painterly look

Re: creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

Dan ~ love that wild background. really like how your version it seems to be a blend of all traditional styles all at the same time.

*~*

Thanks for the compliments. I was trying to work up the nerve to post it in the Refinery at DGrin and then I thought;

there are blown areas on the reflection of the grapes
that moldy grape in the front bothers me
the pineapple should have been higher ~ looks like it is growing out of the lemon
the bananas are positioned kinda funny

Re: creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

Nice arrangement, Nasturtium. There was absolutely nothing in the area of exposure that needed correction. Any tone or light/dark adjustments I tried did nothing to change what you've already done with your camera & lights.

I took the liberty to "add on to" the pineapple, clone a lemon & flip horizontally. Doesn't the cheese remind you of an iron? The shapes were glorious to play with and I went a little bonkers with Topaz Simp, Kyoto Color, various blending layers and smudging. Several variations also landed in the recycle bin!

Thanks.

Re: creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

veronica - yes, my keep rates runs about 40% on edits. Experimenting is what it's all about. I love what happened to the lemons in your first edit and the second one the cheese reminds me of the green cheese that the moon is made of

Re: creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

Great photo and nice edits.
I did a sketch, gradient, texture overlay and some other blending/inversions, mezzotint. Not sure what I kept and what I discarded.

Re: creative interpretation ~ say cheese!

Amy, that looks like it's been shot through architect's glass, wonderful!

Tennie - I really like the colors you've ended up with. Those warm red shadows really work to set off the bright yellow lemons and cheese. I'm never sure what I've done after a creatively frenzied edit either.

- Nancy
