Re: Christmas Holly

Margg, why didn't I ever think of using a silver bell? Great idea and you did a nice job blending them together. John, nice way to use Shelly.

Re: Christmas Holly

John, that's a shell of a bauble!

What fun!

Re: Christmas Holly

Rohape, I enjoyed looking through your portfolio.
All of the sparkles and berries put one in a holiday mood...OlBaldy, great shape...looks like a variation on an amazing circle? John, your design just becomes a fractal, no? It's super.
Fran, Hallmark ready...very pleasing technique.
Marggg...your salad looks tasty. How do holly leaves taste, anyway? Creative.
Lyle...the fun never stops! You R an inspiration
aartist...love the texture, can "feel" the shine just by looking.

Now I can't wait to try one myself.

started with a highly doctored and saturated anisotropic version of the original

On a separate copy of this background I created a square selection
For the globe I used the free plug-in download from Flaming Pear (scroll down to the free plug-in... it contains a lot of filters)
used a filter from Flaming Pear called square to circle
used another filter from the same group called Sphere Warp B
used another filter from the same group called Sphere Warp A
Lastly used another filter from the same group called Ornament

This provided a longish globe looking thingy which I copied and put above a new white layer then masked around the outside leaving the globe... added a hanger top

deselected everything except the globe layer and the hanger top layer... merged all to a new layer (making the globe with hanger top available on a transparent layer)

moved the globe onto the original highly doctored and saturated anisotropic version of the original

rotated everything 90 Degrees into portrait position, adjusted positioning

cropped and posted

In other words everything except the hanger top was made from the highly doctored and saturated anisotropic version of the original (which is behind the ornament)

Re: Christmas Holly

As I worked on this image it just began to look like plain old wrapping paper...and that's exactly what I did with it.

Wanting to make it look more festive I tried several tutorials about playing with light & florescent effects. Some were easy enough but just too hard for me tonight. I REALLY do not handle the pen tool well, so, perhaps that's a good resolution for the new year. So, instead, just hung a bunch of ribbons.
