Re: Piker's watercolor emulation tutorial

Well, I tried it tonight...what do you think? I didn't follow the tutorial to-the-letter ...mostly because I got a bit confused, but I think it captured the spirit of the technique. I will certainly do more...

You've got all the big names on your site, don't you. I think you gave me a new focus. Thanks!!!

Vitaly,

Thank you for your efforts. This is a very thorough tutorial.

Your English is much better than my Russian! Not to worry. It is very understandable.

Re: Piker's watercolor emulation tutorial

I tried again, with more confidence than yesterday and very different results. Yes, I see...there's lots of room for play here.

This is Grayson, the cat of a friend. The original photo she sent me was really jumbled up, background very messy and I needed to clear up a lot of distraction.

Thanks again, Vitaly.

ps: unable to open your brushes. Is it necessary to download another application? I'd really rather not.

Just an idea, maybe if you want to post the original photo of the cat (or another photo), and we can all have a go using Vitaly's great tutorial.

It will be interesting to see how many variations we can all come up with using the same instructions and brushes.

I'm having my first practise run on your building Amica with Vitalys tutorial, but i can't seem to get past step 9, when we go to use the art history brush for the first time after taking our snapshot, it just dosn't seem to paint?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I don't have the numbered steps in mind, but I simplyfied the dub, created a blank layer filled with white added another blank layer and made a snapshot then of the simplyfied dup. See if it works, if not..come back

Re: Piker's watercolor emulation tutorial

Sponge03, Thank you!
I used the first 17 steps and then I have only a simplified sketch layer and texture, S/H, USM and H/S.

This can be if you paste an image through the clipboard into a new file.
I think need merge layers before snapshot.

Vitaly, I admire your work very much. Jordan's right - your watercolors are in a class by themselves.

It's very kind and generous of you to share your methods. Thank you!

Re: Piker's watercolor emulation tutorial

.rar is an archive, similar to zip.
You need to download winrar utility to open rar archives.

My version is OK, i'm sure I can do better next time.

It will be good to see Vitaly do a version using the same steps with the same photo, that will give me some inspiration to keep improving my watercolor painting skills.

Re: Piker's watercolor emulation tutorial

I'm here
this is step by step play.
I want to note - the best result is when you use a tablet, but not the mouse. My instrument is tuned to pen pressure.
