I think that was achieved by duplicating the image i had got ( by blurring and adding a sketch layer i think) and using impressionist, basic charcoal setting then lowering the blend mode till i got a look i liked

also by the same photographer at sxc ( great gallery find there Amy )

this time used buzz, topaz adjust and some texture layers

Re: Wine and Cheese

playing around with some ideas

posterize to simplify
then some painting with AHB/HB

I didn't like the strong cast so I got rid of it and lightened things up. Basically I was trying to emulate that high key look that is so popular today ~ just out of curiosity, not because I have any particular taste for that aesthetic.

I had to ditch everything that wasn't absolutely necessary on my laptop to make room for some of DH's files while we were traveling over the holidays. It's a rather interesting experience. AND I got 2 (two! two! two!) Photoshop books for Christmas so I'm as happy as a clam just playing around with the new (to me :-) ) things I've learned.

Re: Wind and Cheese

Wow! Such great variety in styles and technique. I know I got carried away with this with 5 renditions. Chose to post one in a style I've not done before. (mezzotint)
