Sweet Memories

Cali thinks to herself as she gazes at his photo, "He was so handsome, so big and strong... He had to go away when his family moved. Maybe we will meet again." (Just to clarify the set-up)

AHB - impressionistic.

Oh, Lyle, that was Cali, the calico cat, doing the "remembering", not me! Just trying to stage a story for the photo to give folks a place to start their art work.

Nice effect, Lyle -- retained a lot of detail.

Glad you enjoyed the photo.

Fran - lovely rendition - so soft

Palms - nice work. I like how you emphasized the main subject.

Re: Sweet Memories

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all., Tennyson

Thanks for the nice image to work with. This one was done using Paint Engine.

Re: Sweet Memories

Hadn't remembered that Tennyson was the author, and probably hadn't read the earlier lines but simply the famous quote - thanks for sharing the lines with Cali I doubt she cares about her earlier "romances", but I wish she could see the lovely renditions done in her name. Nice work, John.

Re: Sweet Memories

All really great ... but I'm especially drawn to Lyle's version. Really clean looking and as CJ mentioned, lots of detail. This kind of illustration reminds me so much of wood block prints. Nifty.

Re: Sweet Memories

Thanks CJ/Veronica. Had to do two passes (using separate layers) with Mehdi's Fine-Threshold filter and erased through were I needed to to get it to look right. I do like doing woodblocks (maybe over-doing these of late).
