Re: creative interpretations - something for every

I just had to play with this one. Played a couple of days and with a variety of layers and blends. Thanks for the very interesting picture.

How about a seamless texture.

Also included a result using it.

sharynideas-really cool - your processing really improved the image and brought out it's interestingness
Sylvia-Neat. I like how you isolated the cleat and rope (line?) and made it high key
Lyle-We can always count on your to come up with something completely different, creative and wonderful

Peter - I like that sketch, it really looks hand rendered, that would be a great picture to hang in a nautical themed room. And you know I can't resist a pun.

Lyle - cool! How are you making these? I'm thinking a seamless texture for my twitter background wallpaper might be kinda neat.

Re: creative interpretations - something for every

GIMP has several seamless specific filters and that's typically where I start. I end up doing some manual cleanup stuff as well. Used a Plastic Wrap Script-fu along with a G'MIC (G'MIC is a special GIMP filter) preset called Relief Light for the wax effect.

Where did my reply go? I musta dreamt it. :-(

Sylvia - your edit makes it look more like the bright, clear primary colors my eyes saw and the camera didn't

sylvia - I'm sure the 'problem' with the camera was the person operating it ;-)

that's really a feast of textures you've created with the last one

I didn't like the top part of the picture after I processed it with Fractalius, so I got rid of the whole works.

I'm glad you post lots of pictures for us to play with, as it seems not many of us know how to use a camera (that's a hint for the ones who never post pictures ).

Re: creative interpretations - something for every

A little bored, so, using the seamless texture from earlier (bigger version), I figured out a cool way to create a sphere that uses GIMP's Fractal Trace filter. Still a lot of work to repair the center.
