Re: Abstract Art

Thanks for the play Janet. You wanted Abstract, so I took out DAP Klimpt out and added some additional GIMPy things. I attached a lower quality resized version. Click link below for higher rez/quality version.

Re: Abstract Art

Lyle - I was thinking this would love DAP but I was think of the Archimboldi setting

I gave the image some blue
Played with the channels (rotated and transformed them)
then used posterize and finished off with the water color filter

Re: Abstract Art

Thanks, Janet, this was just plain fun. Played with gradients, blends, a little distortion, and finally added a fern texture, just for the heck of it.

Great stuff all. How was this one done? Probably using something that the Mac platform can't use, huh?

Yep you're right Gunner, it was done with Fractalius and that's not available for the Mac.

I agree with you Janet i really enjoy some abstract out of the box stuff
but is your super photograph a Coleus ? we grow it as a half hardy annual here or as a house plant

i think mine should be called filter fantasia due to the amount of filters i used

Re: Abstract Art

Ya'll have been busy while I've been away. I'm glad everyone is taking the challenge to make it abstracted literally. The work is varied and interesting. Thanks to all of the creative people who like to play with images. You are doing a superb job.

Re: Abstract Art

boy, you guys make it tough... but i gave it a shot anyways

i ran the original through a filter of mine in filter forge. it's made to bring out depth, but i used it in an odd way... sort of flatened and then raised at points and ridges. i brought that back into psp and melded it with the original using a blend mode.

i added a second one, also. this was done with a completely new filter i made in filter forge.

Re: Abstract Art

What an interesting subject. Poor little coelus, just sittin' minding it's own business while people all around it are abstracting the life out of it. All are varied, great abstract expressions, with some people adding cherries & grapes and oranges, (Lyle, my absolute fav).

Here's mine to the bunch. Selected the blurred b'kgrnd, desat and darkened. Then, Impressionist, with a hard edged brush.

Re: Abstract Art

Like that one Peter; almost looks like a moth or butterfly. Appreciate the comments Veronica; DAPs one of my favorite toys. Gotta love the Impressionist plugin. Got it to finally work in GIMP (took someone 1000 times smarter then me, but I'm greatful for RobA for figuring out how to hack the plugin asset file (forgot the actually name now; lol) in order to get it to work) too so happy I am.

Not happy with the jpegs so click here (http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/7...g2023jan09.png) for the high quality version.

edit: oops; bad blend at the bottom; didn't see that. Oh well (never said I was perfect). lol
