Spooky Old Tree

We went for stroll through Burnham Beeches recently and I thought I'd try and do some trees for a change, quite a challenge really.
Most of them are very old and look very spooky.

If anyone is interested more can be found here use anyway you like.

This one was very dark and I used mainly lots and lots of filters, D&B, masks and some textures.

Peter, those trees are an absolute hoot! Wow. There are times, as your photos demonstrate, that the trunk is the star of the show. What trunks these are.

I took this one from your on-line album. Played with the lighting, and decided to smudge the trunks, all the better to look sensuous. Since they reminded me of hands, added in a ball to hold.

Veronica that's a great one. My wife did say it looked like hands, but I forgot about it. Nice one. , I must pay more attention next time.

A very old place, I saw one Oak that is said to be at least 800 years old.

Thanks for the link, Peter. The information was nothing like I ever learned here in the US. I'm planning on going back to Burnham.Those trunks are wild. Occasionally I'll see a garden tree that's all trunk with a spray of branches, I guess it was pollarded!

This one used selective color and smudging.

Great pic Peter - Not sure how I got to my result, lots of playing around, but the first thought that came to mind was "ET phone home"
