Re: Some zoo pics for play

Thanks for the play Amica. Just combining two of my most current binges (glass and Poincare') to create the bird bauble. I did fake the Poincare' (not a true Poincare' that is). I also added base layer and some distortion for spherical effect.

Thanks Amica; I was wondering if I can share this result on other forums that I frequent? Anyway, I'm posting (well redone it; lol) the birds with transparent background at link below (a little more then 2MB).

Now that was a quick response. Thanks a heap. Will link to this thread (but of course those who aren't members won't be able to see the originals).

Re: Some zoo pics for play

Thanks for the pix, Amica. I'll try to get to one today.

Lyle, so far in the past few days you've taken us on a magical, mysterious Mathematical tour! I learned about Droste and now, Poincare. I downloaded the little ap on knotted surfaces, SeifertView, and now I can't seem to get it out of my computer. Any suggestions?

Very interesting...I used to enjoy fractals, but this is a whole 'nother ballgame.

Sorry Veronica, but once you partake of the madness, there is no cure. lol

The technique definitely works for the Zebras Palms.

Re: Some zoo pics for play

Oh, Peter, love the bird's texture...very rich and warm.
Palms, what a minimalist you are and so totally exquisite.

Okay, Polar Bear was desat with increased contrast, then, Impressionist. That sounds so simple yet I took the long way around, masking, etc, Ok, it's all a learning experience.

Zebras I call Gay Pride and dedicate to my daughter. She & my daughter-in- law have decorated my grandson's room with photographs from their safari and zebras abound!

Connie, eh? Pretty name, Amica.

Re: Some zoo pics for play

Peter, I hope you don't give up your sketches, as I truly admire them. Nevertheless you did a great "color" job on the bird. Love it!

Veronica, nice work on the polar and VERY creative coloring for the zebras, nice. About the name, well, I'm not so sure if that's what I would call pretty :-(

Re: Some zoo pics for play

I noticed your post re:Poincare' tut tonight, Lyle, and I thought it was very nice of you to do that. I couldn't possibly in a million years, don't use Gimp, etc, but if I did, it would be fun.

After changing the background, instead of running the bird through Photoshop I decided to have a go at PsykoPainthttp://www.psykopaint.com/. In actuality it felt like I was decorating a cake, squeezing out all that frosting on top. Bird's just oozing icing. And I wonder why I went through so much effort to make a really good mask.

Really awesome, Sylvia, I once started playing with these, but with not much effort, I must add :-) Not much time for playing at the moment. Hope this is going to pass soon :-)

I love those Zebras too! Palms, I think your crop is great on them so I used it along with using Fractalius and the note paper filter.
