The house

This is a picture of a dwelling along Cote-des-neiges road in Montreal. A bit too ritzy for my budget, but I thought it made an interesting photo and a painting.

Looking forward to you all working your magic.

A slightly larger version (1000x667 276 KB) of the original photo can be obtained from here:

The full size paint (3200x2128 - 3.44 MB) can be seen here:

OK I'll go first. A watercolor, just in case you couldn't tell

Re: The house

Here's another try. Not sure what to call it? Pastel or maybe a soft color pencil.

Re: The house

You're not getting away that easily, Lyle. How about a hint as to what you did to get such a great image. (I am a real sucker for saturated images. <Smile>)

Re: The house

OK; a few hints. I did use an HDR Script-fu to open the Shadows up some; also a G'MIC preset called Tonemap to enhance it even more. I then copy pasted into Irfanview to run Buzz (Buzz's not GIMP friendly) and then copied back into GIMP where I amped the Saturation more and also used Xero's Supersmooth filter selectively to clean things up some.

edit: more details on how I amped the saturation can be found at link below (scroll til you see my comments under my other alter ego (lylejk).

Re: The house

Nice one, Grant.

Skip, both nice plays but #2 really stands out for me. Reminds me of a book illustration.

Thanks Lyle. That G'MIC looks interesting. Will have to check it out.

Re: The house

Hey Gene is that the part of town where all the mobsters live? It looks like the neighborhood they were showing on TV after the last murder.

Re: The house

LOL! Don't think there are too many mobsters living around there, Joe. This is located in Montreal's Ville-Marie borough.
