City Lights

Both of these by timobalk at SXC

and thought they might be a challenge as they are of night time, quite often you see photo's made to be night-time but not many of night-time to be made into art work ?

any way have fun

http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1286649

http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1286647

( oh and there is two as i couldn't make my mind up which to choose, so still indecisive in 2011 )

Re: City Lights

Great pictures Palms - You must have been doing a lot of surfing to find these and the Pedal Pushers, hope you are not snowed in? Here's the first one with a watercolor using Vitaly's Piker Watercolor technique.

Re: City Lights

Nice one, Skip. With someone else using that Tut, I'll have to really work harder at getting good results. <Smile>

Thanks for the Pics, Palms. Between thes and the bikes, I should manage to stay out of trouble for a bit. <Smile>

Thanks for the play Palms. Excellent result Skip. Mine was an adventure that ended up with the neon deep night watercolor.

Re: City Lights

Just trying to figure out what I did for my last effort. More involved then I would like, but think I have the formula now. Like the name I concocted too (Neon Deep Night Watercolor). lol

Re: City Lights

All nice, but both Skip's & Lyle's #2 really stand out for me.

Here's mine - yet another Vitaly watercolour. It handled the night scene quite well I thought.

Re: City Lights

Here my attempt on the second image.

Done in DAP with the Monet AOP at default settings, except for running it ~ 8000 brushstrokes. Additional processing in PSPv9 to add contrast, texture and edging.

Again, Thanks Palms for the play.

Yes; like Palm's brush texture and used a few times since she's posted it. You used it quite well Gunner and really like your result.

Re: City Lights

OB, stark, gutsy..as an opening scene of a cops n' robber flick. Of the 2, I like your first one better.
Gunner, I agree w/ Lyle, that texture takes it to another plane.
Peter, night to day, wow. I'd toyed w/ that idea too, but nothing as fabulous as yours.
Palms, deep dark night in a city that never sleeps. Major atmospheric change, looks spooky to me.
Fran, yours appeals so much to me. Almost a monotone, drizzly, relaxing to look at.Alex, yours has so much depth, the buildings seem to have more realism than the original photo.
Gene, I love how your treatment has picked up so many hidden hues!
Al, wow, it startled me at first, then it slowly grabbed me. Amazing.
Joe, I like the major shift in hue from the original. Texture adds excitement as well.
Lyle, I'm simply mad over your creation! I like your second a tad over the first.
Skip, love how you were able to catch so much detail work into the buildings with the pencil sketch version and completely hid them in your watercolor. Not sure which I prefer, perhaps the H20-color.

Thanks again Palms for your image hunt. BTW, at first I thought the large white circle in the right of center was a spot on the lens but in the second shot, it's behind the arched bridge. Could that possibly be the moon?

Mine is an experiment in layer modes gone crazy.
