Mixer brush tutorials Photoshop CS5

Photoshop CS5 was released April 2010. Among the trumpeted features were the new "Mixer Brushes" which looked very promising in Adobe's promotional videos.

Like many functions in Photoshop, Mixer Brushes appear to have a great deal of flexibility and potential, but not much was available at the time of CS5's release regarding "how to use them effectively."

Since then a few tutorials have popped up:

Recently Tim Shelbourne posted a link to his tutorial offering (see the following thread):
http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/pho...oshop-cs5.html

Here's another that offers step by step instruction:

Lynda.com offers a couple Mixer Brush tutorials, one by John Derry who co-developed what is now Corel Painter:

This step-by-step tutorial has a lot of detail...

================================

I have no experience with any of these (I have not installed CS5 yet), but if you have tried any of these OR have experiences with other tutorials to share, please do so.

Re: Mixer brush tutorials Photoshop CS5

I upgraded to CS5 about two weeks ago. The mixer brush was my big reason for the upgrade but I'm not having any luck with it. Still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Here's another tutorial that might help someone else.

I hadn't tried them yet and did follow the tutorial as closely as I cared to and this is the result. The tutorial is the one from http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/pa...stic-painting/

Well, sometimes when I try to follow tutorials I must miss something or other cause they turn out badly.
