Re: Truck Lips

That's funny! A little Topaz post-processing?

There is a certain recent car model (I don't know what it is) but the metal over the headlights makes it look like it's frowning at you (ie, like it's challenging you to a race). I've seen them on the road.

Re: Truck Lips

Lyle, you brought out some nice colors, especially the purples.
BTW, do you do the circle technique by hand? auto generated? Is it one of the gimpy apps? Anyway, it's really cool. Fotosketcher does a circle-style outcome...but no way near anything like yours.

Re: Truck Lips

Great picture Veronica!! Couldn't decide which way to go. Settled on a rough watercolor.

Re: Truck Lips

Hi - Here is one from me. FlamingPear's Organice Edges on top of Mehdi's EdgeFX, and a little added saturation on the lips.

Re: Truck Lips

OB, I like the poster effect on yours, larger areas of pure color...nice, clean look. A strong finish for an obviously strong vehicle.

Skip...yeah, I was thinking about watercolor, too. Yours is spectacular. I've asked you before, but I'll ask again, what brush do you use?

Pat, the extra saturation on the lips is perfect! For the past few years I'd been calling it "truck lips" everytime I passed it, you did it up real swell. I like Flaming Pear, as well, pretty good stuff there.

Re: Truck Lips

Nice work Skip, I love the way the truck looks as a watercolor. Any chance you share your technique?! I'm new to the 'art' side of Photoshop but love what I see in the forums. I can see your pic framed and hanging up on a wall somewhere.

Re: Truck Lips

Thanks Veronica and mlmaxy. This watercolor effect was the combination of two processes. The main process is the use of a really great watercolor effect called Piker's Watercolor Emulation by a gentleman named Vitaly. Here's the website for the tutorial: http://pike.jimdo.com/piker-watercolor-tutorial/
The other part of the process uses a great program called Fotosketcher (which is free) found here: http://www.fotosketcher.com/

I do the Piker's Watercolor tutorial through step 21. I then copy that result and paste it into Fotosketcher and use the watercolor effect there. This gives a great texture effect to the picture. I then copy and paste this result back into Photoshop and continue with the Piker Watercolor tutorial.

The Piker Watercolor tutorial is a bit long, but gives a great result. After using it a few times you get the feel of the flow and it becomes easier to use. There are links toward the end of the tutorial for the brushes and textures that are used.

Re: Truck Lips

Skip, I feel like, duh, why didn't I think of that. I've often combined Fotosketcher with other filters, as in the couple walking through the surf in the bridal-theme post, just don't know why I never reversed the order, as in, the Vitaly tut and then Fotosketcher. Your results are a killer combo.

Gunner, before enlarging, I thought yours was salt & watercolor but, in the larger view I see the added texture adding so much more interest. Great effect. And, btw, I've been going crazy with textures lately.

Grant, pleasingly lovely. I don't see all the dings and bruises this old truck has suffered, you've treated her kindly. And again, your watercolor, like Skip's, has beautiful soft outside edges. When I use Piker's brushes the edges seem to me all scratchy and rough, not at all in a watercolor manner. Bet you use Fotosketcher for watercolor too. Gonna try it today myself.
