A large grain effect as I seem to recall doing it. At the time that I did it
Tri-X was the fastest film around, all 400ISO of it......

Exactly! One could push-process it to quite good heights (1600 iso) with a different developer, whose name I forget now. We use to use it in the Governors office in the late 70's.
