Re: Peeps I'm a dog person but I have a friend that never has less then 5 cats living with her at a time. When one dies another shows up at her door. Kind of freaky. Joe

Re: Peeps Peeps is a natural poseur. Are you guys using PS? I'm still experimenting with PS's filters, but I don't think I'd get anything like the excellent results you've got. Anyhoo, here's my rendition ...

Re: Peeps Thanks for the comments Palms. For this one, the majority of the effect was done using G'MIC's Bilateral filter (one of the many reasons I like G'MIC; someone really needs to port this plugin to PS).

I also think a lot of us would say we are still experimenting as well but yours does have a nice look to it almost dreamy PAlms |

Thanks, CJSwartz, I'm trying to guage just how much can be done with PS so it's handy to know which art has been done with what. I could have spent the rest of my life trying to replicate what you've created. Palms, yes, it is kind of dreamy now that you mention it. I'd have said sentimental, but that's because I'm kind of sentimental about pets. (I'm more of a dog person though.)

Let me add - I'd been trying some of the other Topaz products (free trials) and decided to add a bundle of them (using member Plugnpixels coupon code). Remember what I said about patience - I'm getting older and running low on patience. May have overdone the image - tried adding a number of the different Topaz effects all at once. | Re: Peeps Sorry so long in posting pic of Peeps...sweet cat; love cats. I tried several attempts with different approaches, just not pleased with any. The actual coloration of the animal is high contrast, so just increased that contrast with FP's India Ink filter. As much as I wanted to do more, I knew I had to stop. Cropped his face and gave a royal gold stroke as frame. |

Re: Peeps Mr Peeps reminds me so very much of my beloved kitty, Elijah who passed last November after 20 years of being joined at my hip. I am doing one render of Mr Peeps using only Photoshop so that Crapaud may start to learn, as I did here.

Here is what I did to arrive at my final rendition of this, which is not the best I can do but I did it fairly quick to get this outline sent along with it. On peeps.jpg I did these things, in order, using P.S. CS5 only. Hue/Saturation Selected the eyes and adjusted color Used Smudge Tool around eyes Unsharp Mask Diffuse Mode: anisotropic, rotating 90 degrees twice between uses, as well as sharpening. Duplicate Layer Master Opacity Change Set current layer To: layer Opacity: 71% Select current channel Without Make Visible Select brush Use a smudge brush and smooth out the image. Or use one of the many actions that folks on retouch pro have provided to duplicate this process. Best if one learns how to do it themselves. I used both on this one. I used this brush set; TM Tool Presets Set #1.tpl Find Trimoons web site the brushes are free I believe. After using an action to do "Fake smudge" I also went over it again myself. I used the blur tool to smooth out some of the pixelation caused by over sharpening for the anisotropic filter. When I was satisfied I used this to do a final bit of sharpening: Smart Sharpen Amount: 279% Radius: 0.6 pixels Then I used the texturizer and one of the textures that I had downloaded at sometime called, "MetalBare0099" The settings for this were: Scaling: 62 Relief: 5 Light Direction: Top Without Invert Texture After which I used the: Unsharp Mask Unsharp Mask Amount: 52% Radius: 0.5 pixels Threshold: 2 Then I saved it for the web. I am going to attach a copy of Elijah so that you can see what I mean about being similar. Just another Tabby, but what a guy!

I tweaked the colors a bit (Darkened certain background colors that distracted me from Peeps face) and then used Filter Forge's Fractilitious. It's the only way I know of to get this type of effect using a Mac computer. check out Filter Forge, it's quite something, thousands and thousands of filters to choose from.

Re: Peeps Many month's ago, I ran across this cool open source program that semi-automates the process. Only recently (like yesterday; lol) I figured out how to utilize it better. Click link below for something a little better. http://www.flickr.com/photos/34520999@N05/5757790180/
