Re: Pics from Asia

Very cool captures Sylvia. Thought I would try G'MIC Pen and a few other things for this result.

Re: Pics from Asia

Nice pics as usual, Sylvia. I was looking at digi SLRs this morning, so you may have a rival (I wish) in the near future.

Nice work Lyle and Fran.

I liked this gent and tried to reduce the busy background and bring him to the fore. I'm not sure I pulled it off - might have to come back to it. I wanted to retain the colour, but it didn't look right, so left it as a B/W.

Re: Pics from Asia

Crapaud, I think you did a great job. The background is much less noticeable.

What brand DSLR are you looking at? I have an Olympus but I'm thinking of getting a Nikon or Canon.

Re: Pics from Asia

I was looking at Nikons, Fran. I'd prefer a Canon, but I've already got an old Nikon with a couple of lenses; one good lens and a cheap and nasty superzoom. I might, hopefully, be able to get a trade-in.

Since joining RTPro I've been carrying my Olympus Camedia compact camera around to get some shots for practice, but the quality's just not there. A good camera in it's day, but technology marches on. Trouble is, I'll need a new computer that'll be capable of handling the larger file sizes ... and CS6 ... and a tablet ... etc.

I've also been keeping an eye out for photo ops and I'm compiling a list for next year, as I've missed quite a few events already this year. The one thing I really need is patience - I want it all now, dammit!

Re: Pics from Asia

Wow, Crapaud, you sound just like me -- wanting a new computer, camera, photoshop, tablet. Is there anything left???

I've also been leaning towards a Nikon. If you get one, please post what model you decided on. I've just started researching so I'm a long way from making a decision. If I decide on a really high end one, I'll have an even longer wait until I save up all my pennies.

You'll be SHOCKED if I tell you the camera I'm using right now. It's a very cheap compact, light, Canon PC1474, but it takes great pictures!

Re: Pics from Asia

Sylvia, nice to hear you're using a cheap camera but allow me and Crapaud to dream. :-)
Very nice painting with the impressionist filter. The board has been very slow lately so post more photos. :-)

Here's #4 from me.

I can see what made you think they were weapons, but I can guarantee they're only bag straps. I walked right past these people, and nobody had any knife in sight, except for the fishermen fixing their nets.
Now the smell is another story!!! No need for weapons when you can kill with stench alone!

Sounds like good value for money, Sylvia. It's probably more modern than mine, though. I'm not easily shocked.

Eeeek!

*note to self: don't mess with Olbaldy*

Marvelous work, sir! Why your photo-art isn't gracing the walls of the Tate or the Louvre is a complete mystery! Surely international recognition and great wealth are just around the corner. Chapeau, sir!
