cottage

finally made an edit from this one that I didn't hate. Please don't rehost my original. You can do whatever you like with your edit.

Messing around in Painter.

Re: cottage

I agree; car and wire had to go. Took a TK approach for this one Nancy; could use some more tlc though (but lazy I am today). Thanks for the play.

Re: cottage

Thanks for posting the photo, Nancy. Very nice renditions from both you and Lyle. I notice that both of you had more patience cloning out the wires and cars than I did.

Re: cottage

Lyle - TK? Nice job of reconstructed the front door...it took me ages!
Fran - lovely texture to the foliage -- did you do that with a combination of filters? As far as getting rid of things for some reason I find that veeeeery satisfying work.

Re: cottage

Lyle - 'k -- I'll look him up.
Grant - cool. I like what happened to the sky in your version -- it's not over the top like mine and what you did gave the grass a really interesting texture

Re: cottage

OlBaldy - oo-OO! I love the gloopy-paint SnapArt version. The addition of the bush in the cleaned up version was a master stroke

Re: cottage

Been thinking on this for a while. Finally, got rid of the cars, wire, sky and then went with a watercolor.

Re: cottage

Thanks Nancy -- I basically used Vitaly's Piker Watercolor but in this case let the pigment layer come through more and it gave it a more splotchy look.

Re: cottage

Still playing with this great picture. Wanted a painted effect and I kind of like the result. But how I got here I'm not sure. Started with GMX PhotoPainter II (two different effects, Oil and Bristle) copied each to Photoshop as layers on the original (without the cars), different opacities on each layer, flattened layers, added layer with Akvis Snap Art Oil effect, reduced opacity, and added HSL, Brightness/Contrast, and Selective Color tweaks.

Thanks Fran and Nancy, That was my first try with GMX PhotoPainter. I think I'm going to like it.

That's one of my favorites too...it's like a simplifier on crack

I really like your reconstruction of the front door...the flower lined path leading up to the entrance is wonderful

The fun part of using the Oil Paint filter is adding a mask to the painted image and the selectively revealing hints of key features to really make the image pop. I did this with the roof lines, parts of the walls and with the flowers along the foundation.
