Walk in the Arizona desert

My dog and I went for a walk yesterday (before today's rains/cold) in the desert nearby. I only had my iPod touch camera, but the clouds against the blue sky looked so lovely that I had to document it. The Superstition Mountains are in the distance, and the drought stricken creosote bushes are in the mid-ground. Low res images give us a nice starting point sometimes for artistic effects...

A bit of Topaz Clean and Simplify

Re: Walk in the Arizona desert

Wow, I don't know too many people who can take a walk in the desert like I take a walk down the road. Beautiful.

I tried a Topaz B/W effect with a bit of transparency:

Re: Walk in the Arizona desert

Veronica - that really intensifies the clouds - Nice! LOL - the "desert" is just a walk down the road here in much of central/southern Arizona, but we have forests up north and today - they were white with snow!!

Nice shot. I used a bit of Fractalius. Thanks for the play.

Grant - looking good; Fractalius likes clouds, I think.

Re: Walk in the Arizona desert

Great pic C J - I used to live in Tucson and remember this type of scenery well. Here's a go with DAP using the Aquarell effect and some Photoshop post processing.

Re: Walk in the Arizona desert

skipatk - Tucson is lovely and cooler than metro Phoenix in the summer - always kind of envied folks in Tucson during August

Like your edge effect and you emphasized the clouds even more - nice !

Re: Walk in the Arizona desert

Thanks C J - I'm not sure if 105 feels that much better than 110, but there was usually a breeze that helped somewhat.

Nice effects, Janet. Homesick for where? Have you lived out here in the west?

Nice one, Lyle. Looks like a storm is coming up over the Superstitions...
