Zion Sunrise

Taken early before it rained on us all day.

Enjoy the painting of this glorious morning.

Re: Zion Sunrise

Ironically, here's the very same same scene as found in "The Lost Photographs of C. B. Lewis, 1848-52" (!).

Re: Zion Sunrise

(Then I wondered if Janet meant "Enjoy Nature's painting" or "Enjoy painting this scene" – ??).

Re: Zion Sunrise

Lovely pic. Don't take offense at what I did to it. When I work, if the resulting painting looks anything like the original to me, I've failed.

I took the saturation down a few notches and the simplified it with a median filter and did some noise reduction. Then played with FF Modern Art and ended up with something that could have been done by a really bad Japanese artist. But I'm happy with it.

Here's one that's not quite as extreme.

Re: Zion Sunrise

Yep. I used to have a slew of other filters, but some of them stopped working with Win7 and the 64 bit thing and the others I lost in the migration to the new big girl computer. I miss buzz simplifier, impressionist and VP the most. But with Filter forge having some 7000 adjustable filters I think I'll survive.

Re: Zion Sunrise

"big girl computer", that's funny!

You can replace buzz with Topaz Simplify. Otherwise, Filter Forge should keep you busy!

And to think that my son and I stood on the same spot, at nearly the same time of day. WOW! Thanks for the eye opener. And to think I was born yesterday.

I'm glad that you, Lyle, OlBaldy, and Amy are playing with making this into art. Keep up the good work.

Janet

Used Photoshop only, with several layers then flattened.
