Depression era family

I like to take photos from the National Archives and turn them into art. This is shows that the Depression actually caused depression.

I'll wait to see yours before I post mine.

Re: Depression era family

Maybe so Amy, but not to many folks had cars at that time if my understanding of that era serves me correctly (though I could be wrong; Henry was definitely pumping these out by then). Thanks for sharing.

Re: Depression era family

Let me throw some garbage into this game!!! 8-)

In 1935:

8 major car companies built 2,228,209 new cars or 1 for every 54 people in the US. I could not find how many cars where actually registered in my too quick search.

Gas was 10 cents/gal Average price of a new car was $625 while the average wage was $1600/year

And the VW bug was introduced altho it did not go into production for a couple of years.

See what happens when I have a few minutes and the computer is operating as advertised?

Slack time now over!!

Come on now, it really doesn't matter about who could afford a car. PAINT IT!

Interesting idea, Amy. I'll play with this some more later.

Re: Depression era family

This was a tough one. I'm not sure I like my own try.

Re: Depression era family

These folks look like the ones you see from that era. Unfortunately, I have seen many that make these folks look well off.

Anyway here is an interpretation.
