Very nice work so far being done here so I thought I would throw mine in.

I am still working on Spinnz tut on her sketch technique. Still have not got the smooth look that Lisa achieves but with practice it will come together!

Jill - Yeah, finally able to work in the yard! (2 acres!)...plus we've been watching grandchildren (yes, I am a very young grandpa!)...and, I've been updating my resume in various formats (PDF, WORD, HTML, FLASH) Unfortunately, I'm going to have to find another job (got caught up in a downsizing - after 20 years with the same company!)...Playing in the digital darkroom is a lot more fun than looking for another job.
Here's another one ..... A lot of WOOD in this one!

Mauler and Jill - thanks for the comments. Actually Jill the only action was one of 'Buds Wooden Mats' ...the actually 'picture' was created by isolating just the lines ... several ways to do that as well ... find edges works on a lot of pictures .. so does smart blur with a setting of edges only, high quality...if you use that technique, you end up with white lines on a black background - you then have to invert to get black lines on white. I then do a select by color range then copy/paste the selection on a new layer .. can then play around with bevels/shadows etc on that layer. I then added another layer of the 'wood' (actually, I used Bud's wooden mat action to also create the wood layer)... oK...I know I'm not doing a good job explaining this technique, so I guess I better write a tutorial one of these days!

Jill--I liked the chalk effect on the first one. Soft, but it kept the details.

Jean--can you point me to the tutorial you mentioned. I'm always looking for new ways to do sketch effects and that's a nice one.

Bill--Both are great, but the wood one is impressive.

PM--I like the midnight green best of your submissions.

Lure--It does look like it's sailing into a storm.

This is mostly virtual painter with a little buzz thrown in.

I can't take any credit for this. I just ran an action called pen&wash that I can't remember where I got, probably here.

I usually try to tweak them or add soemthing after running the action but I liked this one the way it was.

Jean, that is a really unusual effect.

I thought I'd try to see what I could do with the topography filter Paint Shop Pro has. I also added a bit of texture to the sky as it looked strange just plain white. Plus a little bit of tweaks besides, but that's the main thing.

Jean, LOVED your sketch. BillC, looks like a "Bad Moon Rising". Great wood cutting. Don, the midnight green really worked! Jill and Cheryl, very nice soft work. Cheryl, why didn't I think of the crop?! E.B., if it works, it works!

First I made a Haye's Island. Then I made a separate line drawing and overlaid the Haye's with it in color dodge mode. Then adjusted saturation and curves.
