Creative interpretations: New Orleans Corner

Looks like New Orleans... let's pretend that it is.

Danny--thanks for posting. This was a fun one to play with.

I called this mixed bag. Start by making 2 dups of the background.

On the bottom, run Impressionist (crackled color texture--a custom preset) followed by paint engine's bad brush.

On the upper layer, buzz simplifier and edges mono, followed by impressionist crackeled color and then paint engine's borg. Set the blending mode for the sketch layer to multiply.

Then I merged everything to a new layer and played with the nik brilliance and midnight filters along with a little masking where it got too dark.

Nice photo. Thanks for the memories Danny.

Cheryl, looks like late evening. Ready for one of those infamous ghost tours.

First, I played with the perspective a bit and removed the air conditioners and the man. Duped the layer and ran PE - arctic. Added a layer mask and painted Chartres back in the street sign. Added a pattern layer blended to soft light.

Very arty and interesting versions, C & K.

Used to visit NO back in the mid 80s/early 90s. Quite a place. Will never forget my first hurricanes (weather experience and cocktail). Both were memorable and not in a good way!

I dusted off another Mike Finn action ("Watercolor") for this one. This action is included in one of the many free action sets Mike offers at his site, but I don't recall offhand which one: http://homepages.slingshot.co.nz/~mikefinn/action.html

When the action finished, I selectively applied via layer masks a Smart Blur/Edges Only layer to get a little of the railing detail back, a Levels adjustment layer to bring back some of the detail in the shaded areas and a copy of the original image to restore (via layer mask again) some of the "one way" and street sign detail.

~Cheers~
Danny

Danny, ......I'm 99% sure that is New Orleans..... recognized the tile sign on the building, real close to the famous coffee & donut outdoor patio. And they do have a street by that name......

Danny, Cheryl, and & Catia, it's a three way tie for "first place." Great renditions ......

Ink sketch using Painter sketch filter and then liquid ink pens. Frame using Burn plugin in Painter.

I saw this and had to try out some actions and tweakings. Here then are some of my results. Had great fun doing them until 11;30 PM last night.
