While a black background looks pretty neat for a photo, it doesn't lend itself to a photo-art piece, so I knocked it out and replaced it with a background generated from the remaining flowers.

After merging the flowers with the new background, the rest was accomplished by blending layers generated by Virtual Painter's Gouache and Impasto filters, and parts of an image generated by the action that can be downloaded HERE.

I decided to have a go with the black background. I buzzed it a little, then used usm, aniso, and rough pastels.

Danny--interesting method of creating a replacement background. I like the results.

Shari--The buzz/ansio combo is great. It balances the image with the black background much better than the original photo.

I chose to remove the background as well. I generated the replacemnt by filling a layer with white and painting with grunge brushes using colors from the original pic. The I ran several different impressionist filters on duplicate layers and adjusted the opacity to get a little of each. I topped it with a buzz ink stack sketch layer with the simplifier reduced to around 100.

Hi Sheri:

Welcome back. Glad you stopped by again.

Gotta tell you I like your interpretation a lot -- even with the black background.

Cheryl:

Like yours too, because of the muted tones and your (getting to be) world famous textures/papers.
