Creative interpretations: Commuter Train

I thought this picture taken by Doug Kay would lend itself to one of the moody effects I've seen applied to images. Looks like Humphey Bogart should be entering stage right.

Happy creating.

~Danny~

p.s. If you have never heard of Bogart, enjoy the fact you're a lot younger than I am!

I really like how this free Mike Finn action (Watercolor) worked on this one. It's available here: http://homepages.slingshot.co.nz/~mikefinn/action.html

Copied the original BG to the top of the layer stack, Layer > Add Layer Maek > Hide all and airbrushed white to restore a touch of detal around the people on the platform and to tone down the lamp glare.

Finished up by adding Hue/Sat and Levels adjustment layers to the top of the layer stack to fine tune the effect.

Nice picture and Nice manipulation, Danny!

I, too, am old enough to appreciate Bogart.

Here's my interpretation:
* Increase saturation/lightness
* Unsharp Mask (1,150,0) 2x
* PSP Edge preserving smooth (30)
* Unsharp Mask (1,150,0)
* PSP Edge preserving smooth (30)
* Remove one distracting white spot (select & median filter)
* buZZ simplifier 1

I was trying to not use any plugins, but buZZ really added something.

I love seeing Bogie next to the train, Platscha!

I went for a darker, moodier look. First I adjusted the levels, then added a little grain. I dodged the figures to make them brighter, and added a little mist with the Xero filter. I added a black solid color adjustment layer, then painted to reveal only part of the image. A setting worthy of Bogart, I hope!

Old enough to remember :-)

Nice image Danny...

I ran my new action "DigiDoodle" (Unreleased as yet) over it and this is just one result I liked. Tried to increase the "mood"

But here's another from the same action..... A bit more of a smoky painted effect.

train

This one is mostly PSP8's large drybrush, buzz and xero lineart with monochrome.
