| Creative interpretations: Clock on Building Kind of a different view of a clock. I look forward to seeing some interesting interpretations on this one. Photo by Damir. Time's a wasting! (pun intended) ~Danny~ |

| Hey, Christine: I like the way you composited the clock face multiple times. That's a very unique twist. (BTW: When you see "color" do you chuckle like I do when I see "colour"? I find language facinating sometimes. - - - - - - - I have recently begun experimenting more and more with Layer Styles, courtesy of the Photoshop 7 One-click WOW book. Didn't really understand them before I got this book and started playing around. There are gobs and gobs of fun stuff to play with, e.g., layer styles, actions, tool presets, brush sets, etc. (Sorry Mig, here I go! First I duplicated the background and ran Virtual Painter's collage filter. Then I used the Select > Color Range command on this layer to select only the black in the layer so it could be isolated on a layer by itself (see 1st attachment). I deleted the original Collage layer. Then I duplicated the BG again and applied the Virtual Painter Gouache filter for the bottom layer. Finally I started experimenting with Layer Styles on the isolated black strokes VP layer. Merged all layers, duplicated the result, applied Gaussian Blur to soften some rough spots, applied a hide all Layer Mask so I could selectively apply blurring, and finished with a Wow frame that I don't particularly like. If you haven't yet gotten into Layer Styles, the possibilities are very intriguing. And so there's no misunderstanding on this one, believe me, I'm not sitting in front of my monitor thumping my chest with pride from an artistic achievement perspective. This particular writeup was to describe a general technique: applying Layer Styles to parts of an image isolated on separate layers. ~Danny~ Last edited by DannyRaphael; 02-19-2004 at 06:07 PM. |

| Crazy Clocks I went abstract on mine. I used the PSP8 rotating mirrow filter set at 190 degrees for the multiple clock pic. Made 2 copies. Took one image and did xero lineart drawing. Took a copy and did a major buzz simplifier 2, then used VP Collage. Then I merged them both. AmyHutton |

Unfortunately I have slept quite a few times since creating this. What I was trying to do was to smooth out the areas into blocks of color. I used the (no longer available) PhotoEffex Background Blur plugin for that. You could probably use Smart-Blur, Edge-Preserving Smooth, buZZ, or something along these lines for a similar effect. Next, I used Xero Graphics Irridium (sp?) filter to add the coloring. You can get all of Xero's plugins for free at: http://www.xero-graphics.co.uk/ I believe Irridium is in Set 4, but won't make any guarantees. Now, Danny pointed you in the right direction for Microsoft's impressionist plugin. I love that plugin! It is perfect for applying single strokes of color on the picture. That's as much as I can remember. Perhaps another time I can give you more detais on another creation... -Jeff |
