Another painterly effect with the GIMP

Here's another one with a more bluesy feel to it. I hope it's OK to post twice for the same picture. It's just that this is such a great picture to work with!

sax to the max

this is my first attempt at a bit of artistic manipulation. I created a few different layers. traced outlines on one, gaussian blre on another and pushed and pulled the opacity and changed layer modes till I thought it looked OK to me.

then blended in an embossed layer of the original,
and darkened the background.

And byRo, AHB=art history brush?? I think I read about that technique around here somewhere...gotta find the info, because I LOVE what you did with it! Nice work!
