Went crazy with filters. Cutout, poster edges, texture, stamp.

Very cool photo.

This is a quickie charcoal and chalk action I recorded and then tweaked some.

I was just fooling around.... Basically painter - cloning, chalk, and some airbrushing.

You forgot to mention your special "eye for color" -- your use of color is exciting, bold, and enhances your work; this one is another wonderful result.

This is a cool picture!

I really like the wild-colored renditions by jaykita and kiska, but when you see my version, you'll know why...I'm a color fanatic!

3 layers (from bottom up)
1st: cutout filter (then faded a bit)
2nd: dup of 1st layer then find edges filtered, set to soft light
3rd: dup of 1st layer then inversed & set to difference mode

had to mask layer 3 a bit when his shadow turned pink...a bit bright, even for my tastes!

Anyway, it was fun--thanks for sharing the pic!

Painterly style with the GIMP

I used the gimpressionist plugin with several layers. The bottom layer with larger paint strokes and less detail. The upper layer with smaller paint strokes and more detail. The upper layer is mode is set to multiply and the opacity reduced.
