Some really beautiful butterfly pics here everyone ! Far to many to mention so I'll just say well done to all !!

My two were the result of some playing in PSCS2. The first an Art History one and the second using the Pattern Stamp. Hope you like 'em !

Well, I took a more abstract approach to show the butterfly does not lose its beauty even after a very heroic suicide dive into a car windshield.

Gosh Danny,

I didn't want to kill the butterfly - I like butterflies - what I really wanted to do (and perhaps someone might do and share how it was done) was to place the butterfly over a small water puddle, with rain drops falling from the butterflies wings, which were desaturating from the waterdrops but also creating a beautiful rainbow of colors in the puddle where the drops were falling. I lack the skills to do this on my own, but would love to see some creative work from retouchpros artists who might be able to pull this off.

As it turned out, forensic analysis of the splat showed no butterfly DNA at all. It was determined that the "butterfly splat" was actually tempra paint from a paintbrush thrown from the car window of the vehicle in front. No charges will be filed against the 5 year old perpertrator who does not wash his brush between dips.

a reboot today of my machine shows it was my gamma. had it a tad high. looks nice

and i enjoy the humor

and i like your idea of the water. i read that to mean that the water is washing out the color of the wings, which in turn is colorizing the water. interesting idea. a sort of bleeding of color.

Craig, I used the explosive blur filter from Filters Unlimited for the splat. http://www.icnet.de/filters_unlimited/. And yes, that was what I was trying to do and couldn't figure out how.

as for your idea, sounds like a great learning project. i'm sure there are folks that would help if you wanted to give it a go.
