| | | This was a good picture, but I wanted to grunge it up and recreate the time line. Completely the opposite of what we usually try to do. It is harder than you think. We all have techniques and actions to remove cracks, but how do you create one?
PhotoShop CS
Working on a duplicate of the original, I desaturated and then did a HSB LA for the sepia tone. I added grunge effects with Eye Candy's HSB noise filter, fractleized a streak for a crack and added a slight bevel/emboss to that. With a 50% Color layer and painting on it I added some more spotches and mottles, and blowouts. Added a yellow orange gradient color fill layer at about 30% opacity. All layers at Normal blend mode. After flatening the layers, I attempted to tear off the corner.

The irony of your creativity is that this would be an ideal candidate for "the other side of the house," those interested in photo restoration!
You do "aging" well!

| | | Swampy -- very realistic look -- we had a Challenge a few years ago to make a new photo look like one that needed restoration -- it was hard (but fun!) to try to make it look aged. Looks like you have had practice.
I wasn't sure which way I was going to go when I started, but ended up making it brighter. Did the Sharpen->Aniso to create some texture, then applied some color layers, layer masks, and curves adjustment. Also replaced the sky. |

Yours has almost a Van Gogh feel. With all that is going on in the rest of the picture, the sky is "just there" and seems out of context. Other than that, it's kewl! The effect is really good on the wagon. |

I didn't like the original one, but the replacement is too bland/soft to fit with the image. Skies are ONE of those things that I have to "work on".
Okay, I found a sky that I liked and I worked it a bit -- does this help complete the image, or compete with, or just not fit?

| | | YES!! C.J. It really does lend itself to the overall look of the piece. I've seen skys with those colors in the desert. |

| | | A leetle bit of Xero LineArt. A leetle bit of Painter: Blender and Cloner. A leetle bit of Impressionist.
Cheers

| | Unique Duv, the colours are wonderful. That little bit of impressionist adds a nice touch overall. |

| | Swampy, your aged photo is so realistic, my first thought was omigosh, this would be a tough restoration!
CJ, your second effort was worth the wait. Very powerful piece.
Dave,a "leetle" bit of this and that, and you've got a painting.
JC, great sepia.
I've been trying for a Polaroid emulsion transfer effect. Here's my latest attempt. http://www.pbase.com/image/39880796 |

| | | Cj CJ I really liked your rendering. The brilliant colors and the lines were appealing to me. In the background of your work between the buildings the background is horizontal and almost like a straight line. Making it more irregular may have improved it some.
My submission is more somber. A low Key sepia. Formed by using the channel Mixer adjustment layer, The HSB adjustment Layer, and on top of that a 50% gray layer in overlay blend mode. To the gray I added noise. |
