Impressionist plugin: Example results (flower by Trimoon)

This was done using the Impressionist Filter from Microsoft.
I used the Impressionist on a dozen or more layers each one
using a different blending mode.

Very nice! So did you use Microsoft Image Composer to achieve these results?

T...

Although Impressionist was originally packaged with Image Composer, it's a Photoshop-compatible plugin file (.8bf), so it can be used with Phothshop, Painter, Paintshop Pro, etc.

Steve's historically been a Photoshop guy, so I suspect that's what he used.

Steve:

This is a very cool creation. Thanks for sharing your handiwork. Impressionist is w/o a doubt the best plugin I've ever seen for this type of thing.

Question

DannyR-- where can I aquire Impressionist? Actually I'd love to see a listing and perhaps reviews of all these cool add-on toys you folks in this play pen use.

I have not one wit of artistic ability but love this forum for all the cool ways people find to show how they see things.

BTW, the image in the first post here is absolutly stunning! Thx for sharing.

Hey, Robert:

The Impressionist plugin was part of a program called Image Composer, that was included with Microsoft Front Page 98. If you're an eBay shopper, there are auctions all the time for Front Page 98. If you're not, I've got a couple Front Page CDs for sale myself. Contact me through e-mail (click my name above to get to the page where you can do that) if you're interested.

RE: Not having a whole bunch of artistic ability
That would be me, too. My kids draw better stick figures than me. Sure glad there are tools like Impressionist that in my case help make up for that absence of skill.
