Creative interpretations: Face, Duv's Nasty, Scowling Face

I came across this mean, nasty looking photo. The cold eyes, nasty skin and mean mouth can only suggest a person with no redeming qualities. I shudder..but perhaps he's not that bad after all.

Cheers
Dave

This is good shot to play with. Although hubby was a little put out and insisted his face was just as good.

I used the CYMK masking trick shown here http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8242

on step 5 I used impressionist (ch textured paint swirl) and paint engine arctic (fade 65%). selected inverse and ran VP oil.

added a canvas glaze. (fill a layer with brown, apply canvas texture, create mask and paint image back in, change blending mode to best effect).

Great pic to work with. The cropping is excellent. I think I'd give this guy the benefit of the doubt and label it "stern face" or "face of determination."

In any event, on this one I duplicated the Background and selected areas of darkness using the CherylH CMYK method (click HERE ). After inversing the selection I applied this sequence of filters:
* Photoshop Dry Brush (6,8,1)
* Impressionist - Conte: Faithful, Background=Image
* Impressionist - Conte: Unsmudged Monochrome, Background=Image, Color/Stroke color = image
* Impressionist - Conte: Unsmudged Monochrome, Background=Foreground color (White), Color/Stroke color = image
* Edit > Fade > Impressionist (to about 60%)
* Unsharp Mask (200,2,0) to give the strokes a little character.

Danny--nice combination of impressionist presets--it looks like it was drawn with those chunky pastels we used in art class back when I was in school.

This is such a great face to play with I coudln't resist trying a composite. The background photo came from a free wallpaper site years ago. Put face and background on different layers. Used free transform to distort the face the fit the rocks. Masked out part of the face and played with blending and opacity.

Great job on my face guys! Cheryl, I really like your composite. It takes a lot of talent to pull it off. I've tried it a few times but so far haven't been able to come up with stuff like yours. Danny, another terrific job with Impressionist Conte. I tried it in combination with MF pOpArTiST.

Cheers
Dave

Thanks Dave--I've been on a composite kick for the last few months. I have a hard time finding images that work for me, so when I saw the potential in this one I couldn't pass it up.

At least you took the time to shave!

I went looking for the best way to screw up a face like this and almost failed to come up with anything to make it worse. So you will have to settle for this.

Wanna look younger? LOL

Blur, mask and added a lense flare over the glare on the glasses rather than clone it out. Lazy? You bet! ROTF.

Here are my takes on Nasty Face.
1. My take on Dragan
2. Impressionist, japenese sketch, overlay

Let me know what you think.
