Creative interpretations: Tiger Closeup

Pretty kitty. Too bad he's in a zoo.

Nice closeup by Tom Islay.

Increased saturation-brightened with levels adj.-duplicated twice -one layer with median 10-another with ink outlines 10,23,0-merge-added same layers-tried out diff blends incl. saturation to get a high-contrast image- lastly impressionist filter pencil sketch-soft detailed. (That's all i remember, sorry. )

Hello all,

• PS CS: S/H brighten by 15% ( love this tool!!)
• Brightened a bit more with curves
• Oversaturated to +40%
• Luminosity Mask – inverted, new layer and blend hard mix 30%
• Flatten image and run buzz pro – Simplifier 1 – just enough that it doesn’t distort the sharpness of the eyes.
• Created a layers level and darkened picture.
• Painted back in face concentrating on eyes and white fur

Nice Kitty!!

yet wet oil :-)

2 copies, poster edges on the lower one, and smudge stick and blend-hard light on top one, some curves on the lower one to decrease oversaturation, merge and 1 copy, paint daubs on lower one, on top one - glowing edges, invert, and blend-multiply...

I did the following:
1. Threshold
2. Radial gradiant
3. Masked eyes in from original, Hue and Saturation and then brightness and contrast.
Thanks
Bob

Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright...

I guess I had to add my slant on this image.
  • Copy background layer.
  • Run Poster Edges filter - Thickness: 2, Intensity: 1, Posterization: 2.
  • Duplicate layer.
  • Run Graphic Pen filter - Length: 15, Balance: 50, Direction: Right Diagonal.
  • Reduce layer opacity to 50% to add colour.
  • Add layer mask to both layers and paint out eyes using black, with a soft brush.
  • Flatten image.
  • Increase saturation to +70.
  • Save image.

I thought I'd resurrect this old thread. I love cats of all sizes and I couldn't resist this one. I started with the Art History Brush in PSCS then used that for my clone base in Painter IX. Merged the two results together and added some texture.

Very interesting technique, Pam. A-h-b in ps and cloning in painter. Unlimited possibilities! Thanks for sharing.

What i did was - in painter i cloned the orig and applied virtual painter-drawing, to the cloned image. Used a cloning brush and smudged onto orig, finally used a modified impr filter to brighten up the colors and give it a wc effect. Also adjusted hue-sat-value in painter until i was satisfied, and in ps sharpened the image a bit.

OK... which cloning brush(es) did you use and spill the beans on the Impressionist settings. This is way beyond cool.

Be glad to oblige, Danny. But i have to rush out and should be back in 3 days. See you soon!
Ps: I used the pointed stump, manipulating the resat feature, opac and size. Also modified it a bit. Shall post details when i get back, ok?

I duplicated the layer then desaturated the the duplicate layer. I Duplicated the the desaturated layer and inverted it. Changed the blend mode on the top inverted Layer to Colour Dodge. I applied a Gaussian blur with a 2.5 pixel radius to the invertted layer to give it a pencil sketch look. Then merged the two top layers and changed to Luminosty blend mode. The added the Filter/Artistic/Fresco.

I read how to do this a couple of months ago.I wish I bookmarked it, as there were some other great tutorials. I've been googling trying to find it but so far no luck.

Hey Legacy~Art, your tiger would have looked good as a poster next to my Easy Rider poster in 1975

Tiger eyes

Well, I played with different cloners in Painter, then took it back to PS and used blending modes on several layers. Added texure, and then sketched with different brushes.

Hello Danny! I have to tell you, i get very manipulative (with my art work of course ) and I sometimes use the "fill with clone image" feature in painter at low opacities apart from actual cloning. It all depends on what end result i'm after, though sometimes i'm surprised by something unexpected!
Anyway, here's my jaykita.set file, zipped and sent to you. Hope no problem opening it.

I did the tiger in a combination of PS and Painter by using the AHB first and then sending the picture to Painter for cloning. Back to PS for tweaking and texture.

Great subject.

I couldn't resist painting this cat!
I used Trimoon's art history brushes and cotton canvas texture to achieve this rendition.

Hi L~A
Well the deadants tag is what I use for the Rootschat genealogy forum. I was going to use Ants, but that name had been taken by someone else who left this forum a few weeks ago after getting his nickers in a twist.

The poster was one of those movie posters that weree around in the 70's, you know, Clint Eastwood, Easy Rider, Marilyn Munroe etc.. They were standard wall decorations when you were living in cheap rented accomadation. Usually stuck to the wall with blue tack. Ah, they were the days. I think I'll go and listen to Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida now.
